MPX Energia and EDP-Energias do Brasil are near completion on their delayed 720MW Pecem I coal-fired plant after buying out the construction contractor for the plant. The coal-fired project, located in the state of Ceara in north-eastern Brazil, was meant to come online in January, had its operational date extended to July, and is now in commissioning and set to come online before the end of the year.
