Australia's federal Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities has extended its consideration period for Whitehaven Coal's Maules Creek project until the end of April. The delay in approval will be an additional source of uncertainty for Whitehaven, which was the recent victim of a project finance-related prank.
